One measurement method to determine the hydrocarbons content (CxHy) consists in using a so-called Pellistor sensor for catalytic measurement. Heating up the sampled gas changes the conductivity of the unburnt hydrocarbons molecules in the sampled gas. Measuring said conductivity enables to draw conclusions about the hydrocarbons concentration.
