Soot Dot Determination (Soot Measurement)
The determination of the soot dot is a prescribed measurement by oil-fired combustion plants (acc. to 1. BImSchV). 1.63 liter gas are sucked three times thru a filter paper. The grey coloration is subsequently compared with a soot dot comparison scale and the mean value of the three nearest soot indices is determined. For obvious reasons, a soot dot as low as possible (<1) should be aimed at. This measurement can be performed using a manual soot pump. Alternatively several ecom flue gas analyser models (e.g. ecom-EN3-R, ecom-EN3-F, ecom-J2KNpro) offer the integral soot dot measurement via sampling system.
